Men's Handicap Match Play

Gentlemen,

The match play charts are up on the bulletin board.  Please contact your opponent(s) as soon as possible to arrange your match.  The rules have changed from last year.  Please be aware of the changes.  If you are having any trouble setting up a match please contact myself or Devan Dodd at least a week in advance of the deadline.

Thanks

George Harris

Match Play Rules for 2012

In both Singles and Doubles the low handicap player plays as a scratch and everyone else receives 100% of the difference between their handicap and the low player’s handicap.

It is the responsibility of both players or teams to set up the match.  Contact you opponent as soon as you know who you are playing. If a match is not played on time and neither side has contacted one of the conveners at least a week in advance of the date, then both players or teams will be disqualified. If you are having trouble setting up the match please contact a convener for help.

All Match play scores must be entered into the computer for handicap purposes. Refer to the handicap rules re: conceded holes and putts and if you don’t finish a hole or you don’t complete 18 holes.

May Highlander

It's a great day for golf at Highland!

Handicap News, Golf Canada has changed the procedure for Equitable Stroke Control when posting your score for handicap purposes. The new process stipulates a maximum score per hole based on your Course Handicap range. This means that many of us now max out at a score of 7,8,9,or,10 on any given hole( based on your current index). This new format is very simple but constitutes a major change. It will be interesting to see what it does to your handicap. A chart is posted beside the Pro Shop computer and Golf Canada information sheets were distributed on Opening Day. As always Mike, Tyler, Rick, and the rest of the staff are knowledgeable and available for guidance.

On the course we all know the usual suspects who are meticulous score keepers and game coordinators (Dan Costigan or Brian Legg) or the rules aficionados (aka Roy Bratty and George Harris). I am sure they all have it sorted out by now and everyone who has been lucky enough to have played is using the new format.
I have not been able to play yet but I have officially recorded a triple of sorts. As I have learned from many others at Highland who went before me it was a bit uncomfortable at the time yet worthwhile in the long run. Remember to post those triples and quads if that is what your index determines!
