The following is a summary of Highland’s Handicap Guidelines and expectations.  If you have any questions or require clarification please consult the Pro Shop.

General Information:

-          Members are to post all scores from April 15 to October 31. These scores include home, away, match play, and stroke play scores.
-          Posting scores in person at the Pros Shop immediately following the round is the preferred method.  You can also post your score on the Golf Canada website once you have received your Golf Canada member number from the Pro Shop.  A previous Head’s Up was sent explaining the process.  If you have any questions, please see the Pro Shop.
-          9 hole scores are also to be posted.
-          An 18 hole score is to be posted when 13 or more holes are played.  This score is to be calculated based on the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) process which is detailed below.
-          If 7 to 12 holes are played a player shall post a 9 hole score. This score is to be calculated based on the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) process which is detailed below.
-          A “Tournament Score” is defined as a score made in a competition organized and conducted by a committee which identifies a winner (s). These scores must be posted and identified as a tournament score when entered in the handicap system. Examples of tournament scores are Match Play – Club Championship(s) – outside tournaments etc.

Highland Country Club Guidelines & Expectations:

-          All most recent scores must be posted to have a valid Golf Canada (RCGA) Handicap.
-          A player can be disqualified from events for not posting all scores.
-          All players’ handicaps will be verified prior to club events.
-          Players are responsible for verifying their playing partner’s correct scores.
-          If a player fails to post a score, the score may be posted by the Handicap Committee without the player’s authorization.
-          Please follow the basic rules of golf.

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC):

Players Handicap:                              Maximum strokes on any hole:

1 through 18                                        2 over par
19 through 32                                      3 over par
33 and over                                         4 over par

Example:

A member has a 15 handicap.  The round was incomplete as the player stopped at hole # 16.
Hole # 17 for males is the 6th handicap hole and the 18th is the 10th handicap hole.
Based on the players’ handicap and the individual hole handicap on the scorecard  the player would record a score of 5 on hole 17 and a score of 5 on hole 18.  Total 18 hole score is to be posted.
